18 May, 2011 - 13:00 Rate this: 0 points | Since this thread is in fact in response to my a) saying 'honi' is a misspelling b) means 'From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks' on an entirely different thread a) 'honi' may have been correct Anglo-Norman French in the 14th century, it is no longer correct French today, which is 'honni'. But I accept that if your knowledge of the proverb derives solely from this source, it is reasonable, and I was being overly pedantic. b) it does mean that, pretty much i.e. what you impute to others, you reveal in yourself. |
