Remember the time when some shops had signs saying "No Jews, Gypsies or Irish". Seems Israel (formerly known as the Only Democracy in the Middle East™) has its own version.
State-sanctioned, too. They'll be calling it an apartheid state next.

I thought they already were calling it an Apartheid state?

Not yet it isn't. But it is certainly showing signs of going down that route, which will be dreadful and a betrayal of Zionism.

The director of the (much maligned by the JC) The Promise wrote that it is truly an achievement that Israel, within a lifetime, has squandered the goodwill of the world.

I forgot to mention that Turkey and Lebanon - and Gaza for that matter - all have elected leaders.

Soon to be joined by Egypt, Tunisia and hopefully Syria and Libya.

I don't care whether or not I am sweet and/or moderate. I deal in the truth, and I detest liars and antisemites.

Evidently, you have no clue what democracy means. It's not just electing leaders - Nazi Germany managed that. A democracy includes not throwing the enemies of the regime off roofs, which is what your beloved Hamas does. No wonder you like them.

What will happen in the future is anyone's guess. At the moment, Syria and Libya are fascist dictatorships. No wonder you like them.

Hi Joe first you tell me I have got to leave my toxic settlelement in the West Bank and give away my home to the Arabs and come and build up the Negev and the Galil. Now both you and suzanna say that even though you tell me I am not allowed to live among the Arabs in the West Bank (for no other reason I can see other than it must be ethnically cleansed of Jews) I must allow Arabs to live in my community in the Galil/Negev where you wish me to go even though this may be inimical to my way of life. But of course I am forgetting you and suzanna are members the "liberal" left and you only want what is best for me!

The goodwill of the world!?! Is this the same world that stood by and watched 6 million Jews marched to their death! Don't make me laugh luv. Israel owes the world nothing, it has never quite learned to embrace the Jews and if we don't look after ourselves then no one will.

Joe, once again your language in regards to Israel is vulgar and offensive and shouldn't be stated on a site predominantly read by Jewish people. You cross the line far too often

Advis3r, so basically you want to live in a gated, gilded ghetto. Say some British minister were to say that Jews could be prevented from "rearing their heads" in some towns if the inhabitants therein didn't want them. You would, I hope, be joining me in screaming anti-Semitism. Yet you want the same in Israel. Smacks of double standards.

Snodgrass, where vulgar and offensive? Quoting what an Israeli minister said? You should really stick to playing for Leeds and Scotland. How's Richard Millett, by the way?

"Say some British minister were to say that Jews could be prevented from "rearing their heads" in some towns if the inhabitants therein didn't want them. You would, I hope, be joining me in screaming anti-Semitism."

This is exactly what Mr Abbas has said about the cradle of Judaism i.e. Judea and Samaria where he has said not one single Jew will be allowed to live upon the creation of a Palestinian state. So why are you not screaming anti-Semitism instead of telling me I have to leave my home?

Because, advis3r, you are on someone else's land, where he wants to set up his state. And given the history of the settlements and some of their residents, can you honestly blame the Palestinians not wanting them there.
Now why don't you want non-Jews in a community in Israel proper? why create more gated, gilded ghettos?

Mr Abbas said he did not want a single Jew living in his Palestinian State why are you not crying anti-Semitism - stop trying to deflect the argument with irrelevancies of whether or not I am lawfully living here which by the way I am.

I can equally say given the history of the Arabs animosity and hatred towards the Jews, can you honestly blame me not wanting them living in my community?

Abbas said no Israelis. Stupid move. He could have solved a problem there and then, and those settlers who wanted to stay in Palestine could have done so.
Remember, also, the settlements are on occupied land, not the Palestinians.
So you'd be quite happy for some British minister to turn around and say that communities would within their rights preventing Jews from "rearing their heads"?

"So you'd be quite happy for some British minister to turn around and say that communities would within their rights preventing Jews from "rearing their heads"?" You know the obvious answer to that that is why I am living in my homeland.
But you are obviously quite happy for Judea and Samaria to be judenrein otherwise you would call Mr Abbas an anti-Semite not say his plainly anti-Jewish comment as being a stupid move?
By the way please define "occupied land".

In democracies, such as Israel claims to be, no minister can get away with saying that another ethnic group should be prevented from "rearing their heads" in communities.
Basically, you don't want Israel to be a democratic Jewish state, preferring instead gated, gilded ghettos.
Occupied land? Land acquired by force during war, and ruled over by military jurisdiction, like the West Bank.
Abbass's comment was anti-Israeli. Are all Israelis Jews? Should all Israelis be only Jews a la l'advis3r?

Joe, the territories are on disputed land and not on occupied land as you claim. This is an old argument trying to delegitimize the settlements.

Now I’m not saying I’m in favour of them, nor against them, but things are not as black and white as you lot like to make out and what can’t be disputed is that the settlements are 100% legal. Provocative? Maybe, but legal, certainly.

Robert, the settlements are illegitimate, being built on land occupied by force and still under military jurisdiction. They are doing their bit in helping the naysayers here get an easy ride in delegitimising Israel.

Occupied by who Joe? after the 1948 war the West Bank was annexed by Jordan, recognised by the UK.

Are you therefore saying that the west bank is 'occupied' Jordanian land?

No, Robert, it's land occupied by Israel following Jordan's occupation. And as you note, Britain recognised Jordan's occupation, which is one more country than recognises Israel's. But as you know, two wrongs don't make a right.
