Farewell, Netiva

One of Israel's greatest innovators of the Hebrew language, poets and broadcasters, Netiva ben-Yehuda (no relation of Eliezer ben-Yehuda), has died aged 83.

Her gravelly voice, honed by years of chain smoking, will be missed at Quiche Cafe on Jerusalem's Hapalmach Street.
