What about the hundreds of Palestinian children in Israeli prisons? Why should Hamas consider ever releasing Gilad when this is the situation? Or are you saying Jews are more important than Palestinians?
I did once meet a cousin of Gilad who said that he thought it unlikely he would be released until justice came.

JC, you allow such a disgusting comment from simoneq above. May I remind you that simoneq has supported the anti-Semitic genocidal terrorist group on these very blogs, and even here takes the role of Hamas spokesperson.

What does that make you?

Yes iris, just like in Hamas run Gaza.

Iris, you should be ashamed for siding with someone trying to shoot down the campaign to free Gilad Shalit.

What if he were your son?

Iris, I know this is chronically difficult for you, so let me spell it out in simple terms; this is not about freedom of speech (and how ironic you seem to think that this freedom only runs in one direction - meaning that one can make up the most virulent lies about thbe Jews, but it is unconscionable that anyone object to this - thus exposing your own facile comprehension of what freedom of speech entails. It does not mean you have the right to say anything without being criticized!)

No - this is about the privilege of disseminating anti-Jewish propaganda on a jewish website. Look at the Guardian's Comment is free - they have no problem censoring posts - likewise every other newspaper's blogs. Yet the JC feels compelled to allow every anti-Semite, racist loony and assorted nutcases to vent their anti-Jewish hatred. People like you scream "free speech"! - even if iut means shooting down the chances of freeing a young man who is currently enduring hell, being kept in a hole in the ground.

And, for that, you should be truly ashamed.

Iris, you don't understand the word "fascist".

You also don't understand that I am not "tribal" at all - not being one of your tribe. So much for your comprehension skills. It does show that you base your thinking on assumptions though.

As of Feb. 2011, Israel is holding about 214 Palestinians in administrative detention in facilities run by the Israel Prison Service (IPS).

Held without charge or without access to law.

Israel argues that administrative detention of residents of the West Bank is carried out only as an imperative security measure and that the decision to administratively detain a person is made only when ordinary judicial proceedings or less severe administrive measures will not prevent the danger posed by the detainee. However, these claims do not reflect the manner in which Israel uses administrative detention in the Occupied Territories. In practice, Israel breaches international law, while misusing the powers given to military commanders in the Administrative Detention Order:

1. Extremely extensive use: Contrary to the principle set forth in international law that administrative detention is permissible only in very exceptional cases of emergency, when there is no other possibility to prevent the danger posed by the detainee, Israel has used administrative detention against thousands of persons over the years. Administrative detention has become routine practice, rather than an exceptional measure.

Ah Lukas, thanks for joining us. As someone who has spoken of his admiration for the genocidal, racist anti-semitic terror group Hamas on these, the JC's, blogs, it is small wonder that you have tried to come to iris' , simoneq's and other assorted Jew haters' defence.

remember that time you blamed Jews themselves for anti-Semitism? maybe the Jc doesn't, but I do.

You are utter scum.

Lukas, you are a proven liar about Israel. You mafde a series of allegations before, and when asked for sources, you went quiet and disappeared. Your tactic is to lie about the Jews in the hope that, if repeated frequently enough, they will be believed.

Well done Moderator, you allow anti-Semitic comments, such as Lukas' contention that Jews bring antisemitism on themselves, and comments supporting the Hamas line in regard to the release of Gilad Shalit, but censor posts when someone points this out.

Hey iris, how about your freedom of speech now>

JC, this is shameful.

I have just had a look on the B'tslem statistics web page and it appears that as of April this year 37 Palestinian children are in Israeli custody. A further 180 16 - 18 year old are also held in custody.

B'Tslem goes on the comment: The statistics presented above indicate the number of Palestinian minors who are residents of the Occupied Territories held by the IPS and the IDF on the specific date listed. B'Tselem does not have statistics on the total number of minors held by the IDF in a particular month. B'Tselem also does not have statistics on minors held by the Israeli Police.

I wonder what these children's names are?

Suzanna, Btselem has a long history of lying about Israel, making all kinds of false allegations eagerly lapped up by people like you, which turn out to be false. By "children", you mean 16 and 17 year olds, who are quite happy to find themselves in combat zones firing Kalashnikovs and RPG's at Israeli school buses. That recent event milled a schoolboy. And let's not mention the Fogel children, murdered by blood crazed Palestinians who celebrated their murders.

An - Nabi Salih is a Palestinian village of 500 people.

60 villagers are in Israeli jails. We don't know exactly what fot but we can be sure that for the most part they aren't " offences " that would get anyone jailed in a western style democracy.

This is a blog about Gilad Shalit, kidnapped by anti-Semitic Hamas terrorists, and held in inhumane conditions in a hole in the ground, refused contact with his family or anyone else for that matter. He is held as a hostage, threatened with violence unless the terrorists get convicted killers released, so they can murder again.

And the resident Jewbaiters use this bog as an excuse to justify his captivity with baseless lies directed at democratic Israel, becoming mouthpieces for the racist Hamas terror regime in gaza.

And the JC allows this grotesque moral inversion to go on week after week on its website.

In Hamas run Gaza, hundreds are arbitrarily killed and tortured in prison, indeed anyone who Hamas does not like. There is no rule of law. The same applies to fatah run Palestinian authority, where the secret police take people away in the middle of the night, for nothing other than opposing the regime.

The haters above have no problem with any of this, because their genda is to delegitimize Israel altogether, in the hope that one day the Jewish state and her people (well, the Jewish ones anyway) will be exterminated. Thus they are silent about the genocidal racism of Hamas. Indeed, several have supported Hamas on these blogs.
