Israel, the Nazis and yet another comparison

Ah, those charming folk at the Muslim Public Affairs Committee.

Not content with thanking MP David Ward – he of the nicely-timed comparison between the Nazis then, and Israel now – "for his bravery and for standing up for the truth", MPAC UK have gone a step further and tweeted the following:

"Ever thought about the differences between #Nazism and #Zionism ? A picture speaks a thousand words."

Lovely.

Some great stuff from Revd. Garth Hewitt one of the authors and signatories of the Kaairos Britain document brilliantly launched at last weekends Greenbelt Festival.

Rich Armbach: Some great stuff from Revd. Garth Hewitt one of the authors and signatories of the Kaairos Britain document brilliantly launched at last weekends Greenbelt Festival.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZxzcLyzAyA

yes, greenbelt has proudly hosted the revd garth hewitt singing his particularly nasty song "Palestinians are Humans Too"

hewitt's song – despite its innocuous (and obviously true) title – is one long attempt to stir up racial hatred against israelis (or jews)

it persuades greenbelt christians that israelis (or jews) regard palestinians as not human, that they despise them, and that anyone saying that palestinians are humans is "going to be criticised without any doubt "

i got some news
may be a surprise
it's a basic truth
i've come to recognise
it may come as a shock
it's only known to a few
but palestinians are human too
if you share this secret
if you say it loud
you're going to be criticised
without any doubt

'cause they're hated and despised
and denied their rights
but strangely they're precious
in god's own eyes
palestinians are human too
oh they weep and they bleed
like me and like you
we can treat 'em like outcasts
as so many do
but palestinians are human too
if an israeli dies
we mourn as we should
if they're american or british
we know that they're good
but when it comes to arabs
and muslims too
we seem to turn a little racist
but i've got some news
palestinians are human too
for they weep and they bleed
like me and like you
we can treat 'em like outcasts
as so many do
but palestinians are human too
we can treat 'em like outcasts
as so many do
but palestinians are human too

this is part of a long line of attacks on israelis (or jews) as either being less than human themselves (calling them "brutal", "savage" etc, or disputing their right to life) or treating palestinians as less than human ("slaughter" etc)

this racist song is certainly consistent with greenbelt's policy of "listening to voices not usually heard in the mainstream"! (see "Statement on Israel/Palestine programming", their page-long justification of their one-sided program)

by promoting a completely one-sided program against israel – including this song which is clearly a racist libel against israelis or jews – greenbelt has been increasing racial hatred among christians

Ben F: On a lighter note:
http://zionistsbehavingbadly.wordpress.com/

ben, very brave of you to draw attention to the council of christians and jews' refusal to have dialogue with you because they consider you to be promoting anti-semitism!

the greenbelt program even extends to anti-israel activities for children, organised by embrace the middle east
last year, they provided (see http://www.bod.org.uk/live/content.php?Item_ID=480) …

a children's program entitled, "Messy Warriors-Help us to transform the people of Israel from wild warriors to wise worshippers. With time for crafts and celebration!"

and this year a nice board game ("interactive", and laid out on the floor) called "Occupation!"…

"Our installation in the Centaur foyer aims to give a glimpse of the challenges faced by ordinary Palestinians living under Israeli occupation.
There'll be a giant, interactive floor game - Occupation! - for all ages. Roll the dice and make your way through checkpoints and challenges, permit denials and poverty. On your journey, you’ll learn about the issues affecting the West Bank and Gaza and find out how you can help Embrace the Middle East to make a positive difference to the lives of marginalised people.
Occupation! is just a game, and you can walk freely away whenever you want, but the message behind it is a serious one. In the West Bank and Gaza, injustice continues to weave through the fabric of Palestinian life. Join us as we embrace the work of our Palestinian Christian brothers and sisters in their determination to be agents of change."

re humans too

When one people is occupying another for decades, stealing their land, stealing their water, humiliating them at every opportunity, burning their trees, bull dozing their homes, murdering them with complete impunity, abducting their children in the dead of night and whisking them off to a foreign country, it is reasonable to wonder how they regard these people.

Another topic. Robert Cohen gets it dead right as usual

i notice that you're very careful not to comment on revd garth hewitt's racist and lying message that israelis (or jews) regard palestinians as not human, that they despise them, and that anyone saying that palestinians are humans is "going to be criticised without any doubt "
rich, do you think israelis (or jews) regard palestinians as not human ?

do you think they despise them ?

do you think anyone saying that palestinians are humans is "going to be criticised without any doubt " ?

or do you think that racism and lying don't matter so long one's criticising israel?

Revd Hewitt is a man I greatly admire. He is making a point he is not expecting or hoping to be taken literally. Not so much an accusation as a reminder. Occupations are brutalising nasty things and the humanity of the the occupied is liable to get forgotten. You had better take it up with him.

For myself I would say that my experience is that Israeli Jews do despise them and regard them as an inferior race. Spend a few months in the Jordan valley and then tell me what you think.

Rich Armbach: Revd Hewitt is a man I greatly admire. He is making a point …

the man you admire is making, several, racist lying points

he is making them, and selling them on cds, to audiences he hopes will repeat them

his anti-israel charity, the amos trust, is in the business of making points, not making music …

and until recently devoted half its homepage to the video of this song

he is making them in the knowledge that they are likely to stir up racial hatred against israelis and against jews

Rich Armbach: For myself I would say that my experience is that Israeli Jews do despise them and regard them as an inferior race.

rich, thankyou for clarifying that you also – like revd garth hewitt – think that israelis despise palestinians, and regard palestinians as an inferior race

Are you implying that Israeli treatment of Palestinians is indicative of undying love and admiration ?

Are you suggesting that people are incapable of despising " others " and regarding them as an inferior race ? i.e. that people are incapable of racism ? Or that racism is something that can afflict everyone else but not Jews ?

Unlike you I am not able to see inside peoples heads so I have to reach any conclusions, however tentative, on the basis of observed behaviour. Like I said spend a few months in the Jordan valley.

By their deeds shall you know them.

Your assertion that Revd.Hewitt is a racist and deliberately stirs up racial hatred merely emphasises, if further emphasis be needed, just how wacko is the bubble you have become entrapped inside.

Old Irish prayer...

Lord please turn the hearts of the evil ones.

If you can't turn their hearts please turn their ankles

So that by their limping we can know them

you reach your conclusions on the basis of "observed behaviour" that excludes, for example, the clear racist lying message of revd garth hewitt's song

and your "observed behaviour" in the jordan valley is something you always refuse to tell us about

like the eappi observers, you return from the west bank with the same prejudices you arrive with, and without any observations you can mention to back up those prejudices

Rich Armbach: Are you implying that Israeli treatment of Palestinians is indicative of undying love and admiration ?

don't be ridiculous, no of course i'm not

of course there must be a few israelis (or jews) who despise palestinians (or others), or regard them as inferior, or are otherwise racist

but only people like you and revd garth hewitt attribute the (presumed) fault of a few to the israelis (or jews) in general

Rich Armbach: Well I doubt this is going anywhere. You will carry on hating the song and I will go on singing it.

you will carry on singing a racist lying song

you will carry on attributing the fault of a few israelis to israelis generally

you will carry on refusing to tell us what you claim you did see in the jordan valley

I don't have any need to back up my " prejudices" the need is all yours. I am always careful before answering to people I don't have to answer to.

I could say I saw this I saw that on a daily basis. You would say I am lying and / or I am generalising from particular instances etc What's the point ? Far more productive for you to spend a few months there I think. Though I doubt you would allow your prejudices to be shaken. Still a few months making mud bricks to rebuild demolished Bedouin property is good for the figure. 0 :)

exactly! … as i said …

well, at least rich reads and understands what i write

even if he doesn't agree that attributing the fault of a few to a race or nation in general is a classic example of racism!

that's rich!
