The Times They Are A- Changeing.

It is only a matter of time before the US smells the roses, comes out of denial of its true vital interests, and Israel loses the US auto veto protection. The only viable solution, ie the one state solution, will then come very quickly.
United States vetos anti Israeli settlement resolution.
Analysis
Barbara Plett
BBC UN correspondent
On paper this was a defeat for the Palestinians but they and representatives of other Arab nations seemed to be in a buoyant mood. They had held out some hope that America would abstain, but not much, so the veto was predictable.
The degree of support, on the other hand, was overwhelming: some 130 countries co-sponsored the resolution, and all the other members of the Security Council voted for it.
The result was strong endorsement of the Palestinian position on Israeli settlements - that they are illegal, and an obstacle to peace - which isolated Israel. It also isolated the United States.
No matter what reasons America gave for the veto (it insisted bringing the matter to the Security Council complicated chances for peace talks) or how fulsomely it criticised settlement building (as a folly and threat to peace) it appeared out of sync with the international consensus, and as Israel's only defender.
Given the ferment in the Arab world at the moment, this is not a good position for the US to be in.

jose (not verified) 19 February, 2011 - 07:51 Rate this: -1 points | Remember: support of a one-state solution is antisemitism (denying Jews the right to self-determination), according to EU working definition of antisemitism. |
jose (not verified) 19 February, 2011 - 08:05 Rate this: -1 points | Anyway, I like the fact that Arabs, as usual, present their defeats as the grounds for future victories. They have been doing that for five centuries now, and I rather like the overall picture. Basically, they have lost an empire (caliphate), they will soon lose the money (petrol) and their remaining power will then crumble to our feet, they mostly stayed with a Middle Ages mentality that did not contribute to the development of the humanity for centuries and kept its population in mental prisons. And as in May 1967, they are going to win. They will tell you when only afterwards. Good luck, simonsam! |

A word of advice: learn to spell before you make an even bigger fool of yourself (if that were possible). Your rant above contains several laughable misspellings. |

Basically, he says that one fourth of humanity has to be defended by some 'law' against a single person perceived as attacking them or their 'religion'. You can see how strong is his faith in the final victory... Said otherwise: "Mummy, mummy: the Jew struck us back, despite being totally outnumbered!" |

19 February, 2011 - 09:55 Rate this: -2 points | simonson, is that the same Barbara Plett who wept when seeing Yassir Arafat, the modern pioneer of terrorism, leaving his terror compund for the last time? That you feel the need to turn up on a Jewish website and relentlessly and irrationally attack Israel, come what may, says everything about you. Israel is a country that can do no right for you - ever. This isn't debate - it is an expression of bigotry. That the JC allows you to endlessly post your hatred is unbelievable - why should we have to fight antisemitism and bigotry on a Jewish website? Isn't there enough of it elsewhere? |
19 February, 2011 - 09:57 Rate this: -1 points | simonson, the Un is a sick joke - over half its members are totalitarian dictatorships. This is the organization which put Saudi Arabia on the panel for women's rights, Libya in charge of human rights and Zimbabwe in charge of economic development. That you revere this institution demonstartes your moral degeneracy. |

On a slightly different note , how long is the JC going to tolerate this Yoni character ?
His endless stream of obscene abuse and vile invective , in gross contravention of the incitement to racial/religious hatred laws, has truly gone way beyond any kind of a joke.
On what is his seeming immunity and exemption from the constraints that the rest of us are subject to , grounded ?
