Obviously something hasn't worked.

Maybe the UJS are right and something drastically new has to be done, including whole-hearted moral and financial backing of the UJS's imaginative initiatives. Not all will work but the same old same old hasn't and obviously isn't going to.

This is solely for the benefit of Advis3r (see above). I am sure everyone else easily managed to grasp the point without necessarily accepting it. The University of York is hardly a hotbed of Islamic extremism, and is hardly ripe territory for purveyors of suicide bomber belts. I am very familiar with tbe Heslington campus, and the number of Muslim students is small.

The point is that the same old sabre rattling confrontational style that seems to have become the dominant face of "Israel advocacy", has clearly failed. If it can't succeed on a predominmately white, extensively middle class campus, where can it? Bravo, UJS for trying to think out of the box and try some different approaches. Obviously, not all of them will work as well as we would like or hope. The UJS should be supported by the Jewish community, morally and financially.

Obviously something hasn't worked.

What hasn't worked is the occupation and the Apartheid treatment of the Palestinians who live in the West Bank. Never mind the brutality inflicted on Gazans.

Perhaps the students oppose apartheid, occupation and sieges?

Perhaps if Israel was to comply with international law and stop killing civilians then it may be viewed in a less dismal light.

Yes Chris, the students want to talk solution while the same olds merely want to stamp their feet and scream "Look at me, look at me!"

Advis3r, you endlessly rant, become frantic to the extent that you lose all punctuation, yet it is everyone else who is intellectually challenged?

Why is this name calling allowed? And why is Advis3r the only one calling names? The rest of you seem to be a civil lot, even if a little uninformed.

The prolificness and the incoherence wouldn't be so bad if it all wasn't at such great length.
