Except of course that the Golan Heights is not Israel but Syria. That does make a difference.

Syria took control of the Golan under an arbitrary agreement between Britain and France. After many years of using it to launch daily artilery attacks on civilian Kibbutzim and Moshavim, Syria lost the Golan in an unprovoked war against Israel it started together with Egypt and Jordan. There are dozens of ancient synagogues on the Golan dating back thousands of years. The Golan is now an integral part of the State of Israel and let me asure you - it will never, ever, return to Syrian control.

Are you qualified to give such an assurance ?

Armbach
Show me the rule which states that territory seized in war has by right to be handed back to the loser in the absence of a joint binding agreement . There is no compunction on Israel to hand back territory to a malevolent hostile entity which has turned to killing its own citizens for lack of opportunity to do the same to its Israeli neighbours .

My pleasure.

The Geneva Conventions.

" The in admissibility of the acquisition of territory through war. "

Armbach, as all European borders are a result of the acquisition of land through war, I take it you regard all European states as illegitimate.

In addition, self0-defensive wars are completely legitimate. Wars of aggression, as executed by the Arabs, are not.

Armbach, in the absence of any partner for peace, what exactly is Israel meant to do - cede land to a country with which it is in a state of war, and a country which has voewd to commit genocide against the Jews?

Why are you so foolish?

Don' t call me foolish, address the charge to the drafters of the Geneva Conventions.

And while it is true that the borders of European countries owe a great deal to war, these were wars that pre dated the Conventions. Prior to this war was a common way in which borders changed. That was then this is now.

Why are you so ignorant?

Now I suppose you are going to have a hissy fit.
