Why are taunting antisemitic blogs and bloggers given free rein on the JC Blogs?

Yvetta, could you provide one example of antisemitism from recent comments on the JC blogs?

stephenb is a definite antisemite, Deborah - he's made some disgraceful comments recently, full of stereotypes. It just pains me that he's allowed to make them with impunity. Seeing his posts of yesterday made me snap.

Jonathan, you might be correct - probably the Jewish festivals have meant that the antisemites can make hay while the sun shines! May their activities come to an abrupt halt! The proof of the pudding and all that...

Maccoby, I assume you ask as a challenge - because you find it inconceivable that your fellow Israel bashing travellers are antisemites. Well stephenb has said that Jews need Jesus, and that Jews encourage stereotypes about themselves. Oh, and incidentally, he hates Israel. What a coincidence.

Zair regularly calls the IDF the IOF, thus insulting every member of the IDF who has died defending Jewish people since 1948. That's not a criticism of a policy - it is hatred of Israel itself - which is antisemitic.

The constant and endless stream of anti-Israel posting from ISM, ibrows etc is also evidence of antisemitism - because this criticism comes at the exclusion of all else - in other words, these posters are ONLY interested in attacking Israel - they are not critical of certain policies set in the wider context of the conflict, which would mean having to criticize Hamas, Hizbollah, Fatah, Iran etc. No, they ONLY attack one country - Israel, which, for its faults (and all countries have faults), is a bastion of human rights and freedoms compared to the obscenities carried out by countries like Iran and Syria, and their terrorist proxies (and this is indeed relevant to the conflict). Only a rabid Jew hater can hate Israel to the exclusion of all else, and these posters fit into this category - as apparently, do you.

There used to be others too - remember eisner, who claimed Jews only care about themselves? Guess what - he hated Israel too - what a coincidence.

Yvetta, thanks so much for posting this. The policy has to change - or else the JC blogs will just become a platform for every antisemite.

Jonathan, much as you'd like to have it, I suspect you have no control over who does and who does not post here. You yourself have used this chag to unleashed the most disgusting attacks on people, some of which have bordered on antisemitism (the attack on the Holocust survivor). Them wot live in glass houses etc etc etc...

The blog of a Jewish newspaper should have a Zero Tolerance policy of antisemites.

Otherwise it becomes indistinguishable from Stormfront or Guardian CIF.

Indeed, Jonathan, just as Jewish organisations should have zero tolerance towards groups that are not ashamed to have their balaklava'ed members use Nazi salutes at their demos.

1. why you do not live in Gaza, N Korea or Riyadh where the State controls who demos on the streets

Because, Jonathan, if you had words with the police, you could have a separate pen.
You could demonstrate on the alternate Saturdays or, better still, Sundays (when there are more people at Covent Garden).

The reason that the JC entertains anti-semites on the blog is that they seem to have a "holier than thou" attitude.

This response was received from th JC in a direct piece of correspondence when challenged on this issue:-

"it is not only important that we cover all stories, and offer out view as a candid friend, I would also maintain it is our duty. If we didn't, we would be just a propaganda sheet".

Those running the JC seem to forget/ignore the fact that the publication is called "The Jewish Chronicle".

In my opinion this should not be a forum for anti-semites, self-hating Jews and Israel de-legitimisers.

I join with amber, Yvetta and Jonathan Hoffman in appealing to the JC to change tack.

You are a hypocrite T-Sham. You want to live in a free society but want to control who demonstrates on the streets. Moreover you whinge about the demos without ever coming. Go to Gaza and see how Hamas welcomes you.

Boring I may be, but Jews under no circumstances should stand with those who raise their arms in a Nazi salute.
