At a recent lecture in Jerusalem, international law expert Prof. Avi Bell explained how the widespread accusation regarding disproportional use of force does not meet the test of international law that places the emphasis on intention rather than results.

Profesor Avi Bell should work in PR rather than international law because he could represent nearly every antisemite in history who has claimed noble intentions for mistreating and persecuting us!

And besides, I don't buy it. When one of the world's most sophisticated armies in the world manages direct hits on hostpitals, schools, mosques, multi-story houses, a university...when it uses phosphorus bombs in civilian areas I can't see much of a gap between intentions and outcomes.

Much better we should learn something from the carnage that has occurred in our name rather than excuse it.

Eventually Israel, which is the more powerful partner, will have to come to terms with the legitimate apsirations of the Palestinian people to live free of occupation, with dignity and securiy - the same thing Israelis want. And when the intent is genuine the results will eventually follow.
