"What's the point of learning Hebrew, miss?" she was asked by one of her reluctant pupils. "All the Israelis can speak Engish anyway."

Or at least, some bizarre lingo that bears a vague resemblance to English but sounds more like Klingon. Except that they are convinced that it's English.
