What a piece of work this man is

What did Rowan Willams say about Sizer and his ilk when he spoke to the Jewish Community last week?

Or did he just confine himself to sniping at Israel?

A friend points out:

"And yet last August at the Fatah conference when motions were approved declaring that 'The Palestinian national vision will not come into being until all the lands of Jerusalem, including the surrounding villages, will be under full Palestinian sovereignty' and 'the struggle will not end until the elimination of the Zionist entity and the liberation of Palestine' (article 19, Internal Order Document), or 'the liberation of Palestine completely and the elimination of the state of the Zionist occupation economically, politically, militarily and culturally' (article 12) - the world, America included, did not bat the proverbial eyelid. Regarding 'melaniephillips' - she seems to be totally ignorant of two facts in her article, firstly that the Anglican Church is the broadest arm of the church in terms of peoples and belief (from extremely liberal (some don't believe the fundamental tenets of the faith, to evangelicals that take a more literal approach to things).
And secondly it's not just "Islamic people killing and ethnically cleansing christians" - Israel (and followers of Judaism) have/ are also guilty of this too (consider that there are/ were far more Palestinian (and Lebanese) christians than there are Jewish Christians, and that Israel have killed countless numbers of them - with many moving out of their homes and becoming asylum seekers elsewhere in the world.

If you look at where christians are placed in relation to Islam and Judaism, it is somewhere in the middle - to assume that Christians should have an unwavering support for Israel is misguided.

Christians share two thirds of their holy scriptures with Judaism (and believe they follow the same God 'of Israel'), and belief that the messiah would come through a Jewish person, and that all exiles would return to the land. But there is little accord on many of the other issues, and most Jews would see christians as idolators (and Jesus as an insignificant figure in Jewish or world history).

Muslims however do believe in Jesus (at least) being a prophet, that he was born to a virgin birth from Mary (Miriam), also that he didn't die (although they have a different understanding on how and why that happened). they also believe that he will be the messiah when he returns to earth to reign.

I think when you look at shared beliefs it's naive to assume that Christians are indebted to support Israel, it's causes, and to hate/ fear Muslims.

No one heard you wingeing, Jonathan, when Israel got support from a known anti-semite evangelical, John Hagee. And no one heard a peep out of you when the BNP's Holocaust-denying leader Nick Griffin supported Israel.

@John Gold para 1
"Jewish Christians"
What is this mumbojumbo?
Negotiation can only come about if their are 2 parties that share common ground.
As JH points out in the post above, there is no common ground, one party seeks the TOTAL destruction of the other - and no, this is not a negotiating ploy or position, it is what the Arabs believe.
In this situation, whatever the ice-woman, (Hilary Clinton), has to say, there will be no negotiations with parties that seek the destruction of The State Of Israel and Israel will continue to build and develop land that it is entitled to build on, whether that is East Jerusalem, Judea or Samaria. .
Thank god for the IDF, the IAF and the (non) possession of nuclear weapons.

Yes, indeed JIC, Israel wants to destroy all chances of peace by committing politicide against the Palestinians. Israel is the author of its own demise.
