UK a 'little' antisemitic

Novelist Martin Amis has called the UK and the West “a little antisemitic” which expects “higher moral standards from Israel than its neighbours.”
...
“Everyone else is protected by having dark skin, or colonial history, or something. But you can attack Israel. And the atmosphere becomes very unpleasant. It is traditional, snobbish, British anti-Semitism combined with present-day circumstances."

French call these people the "caviar lefties". Of course they are not the only antisemites in UK.

Martin Amis is spot on. But it doesn't apply to all of us, Jose ;)

Matt, I also expect higher moral standards from Israel than from its neighbours, but I don't apply one standard to judge Israel and another to judge for the rest of the world.

That is, if Israel's neighbours are much worse than Israel, I will spend much more time criticising the neighbours rather than Israel. As this is evidently the case, I will hardly be seen here criticising Israel.
Those who spent their useless lives in criticism of Israel while they could be more productive criticising Nazi-like (Syria, Iran) or pre-Nazism-like countries (Lebanon), or dictatures (Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, Lybia), show they apply double standards.

And double standards are a sure sign of antisemitism.

Given how Serbia behaved when it faced vaguely similar problems, I would say that Israel is not only better than its neighbours but better than most of the rest of the world.

Who on earth are we Brits to talk, when we have invaded and occupied two countries thousands of miles away and have spawned the likes of the EDL from our midst?

And I don't see Israel banning burkhas.

We have a lot to learn from Israel when it comes to humane counter-terrorism and "mutliculturalism".

Well, I think banning burkhas is spot on. And the EDL are great in drawing attention to the Islamisation of this country, which is happening because of brain-dead champagne socialists and first class traitors in the so-called Labour party. And now Tory ones.

And the Iraq war was a great moral act.
