I am indebted to Paul Usiskin for the following:

"Hi. This is Sarah Palin. Is Senator Lieberman in?"

"No, governor. This is Yom Kippur."

"Well, hello, Yom. Can I leave a message?"

Another joke about Palin.

She is a real friend of Israel, unlike your faux "friend" Clegg - who didnt seem to know Israel was a Jewish state.

I can see why John McCain wanted a conservative running mate in the 2008 presidential election, given that he is not himself on his party's most conservative wing. My question is why he chose this particular conservative, namely Sarah Palin.

Colin Powell well explained why Sarah Palin is not suited to the US presidency here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7BYR_UjsoI.

This, meanwhile, is an interesting analysis of why many American Jews do not support Sarah Palin: http://www.commentarymagazine.com/viewarticle.cfm/why-jews-hate-palin-15..., including, it has to be said, many unfair misconceptions that some people have about her.

Myself, when it comes to American politics, I'm still a Clinton Democrat. She's way too far to the right on a range of social issues for me to ever wish her well politically.

Re:- "Israel a Jewish state". When Binyamin Netanyahu made that speech last year calling on the Arab world to not just recognise Israel, but to recognise Israel as a Jewish state, he was saying something new. That is what Nick Clegg was referring to when he raised it at the Q&A at the EISCA lecture, not long after the relevant speech by Mr Netanyahu. I was at the EISCA lecture. Over coffee beforehand, one of the Anglo-Jewish community's leading public intellectuals was talking privately about how new and interesting it was that Mr Netanyahu had called for the Arab world to recognise Israel "as a Jewish state". This was misunderstood in the coverage of the event. The debate continues: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/25/world/middleeast/25israel.html

Anyway, the Arab countries and the would-be 23rd Muslim country do not recognize Israel. So let's avoid even mentioning a "Jewish state".

You badly need a sense of humour implant, if only it was available on the NHS. I thought Paul Usiskin's joke was funny but you obviously didn't and still had to get a dig in about something or other.....

Pathetic unfunny joke.

Jihad Jenny, Madeleine Kirk, Lord Wallace and Chris Davis - on the other hand - are regrettably not jokes

Very, very funny and very reminiscent of the David Levy jokes of the 1980s and 90s, the best one of which was the person he dispatched to London as ambassador, Drrrrrror Ziegerman.
Get a sense of humour, folks.

Sure Erdman and millis, the left are great at taking jokes at their expense - oh sorry, you never hear any.

These"jokes" are nothing of the kind - but are instead ways of disseminating propaganda (look at the right wing American, arent they stupid)? The left has been making this same moronic and ignorant "joke" for the last 40 years.

Here's a joke - Israel gets destroyed because too many morons made jokes about politicians who may actually support Israel, the same morons who support politicians hostile to Israel.

Good grief. By the way, Amber, I can hardly be described as "left" as I voted Tory in the last election and for Boris for mayor.

Matt, I was in favour, despite the fact that there appeared to be no exit strategy and no proper plan to rebuild the country. And you? And what has this to do with the joke?

I was in favour as well, and mostly because I wanted Saddam gone. Like most people I expect. And if there is a God I would expect him to punish me for it.

He welcomes global warming because in about 50 years Siberia will be so warm that everyone will want to there for their holidays

P.S. Sorry there is no mention of Jews, Israel, Zionism, Antisemitism, Jonathan Hoffman......

However Sarah Palin can see him in Russia on a clear day from Alaska.

It boils down to Palin being not intellectually qualified for the President job. Not even for VP job.

The worse is that she is the best hope for Obama second term.
