The Truth Leaks Out - Yanks aren't fooled about the Marmara

John Hinderaker at Power Line writes:

"It is remarkable how often Americans are able to deduce the truth about a news story, given how little help they get from the mainstream media. Another instance: Rasmussen Reports finds that by a 49%-19% margin, voters blame "activists" on board the Mavi Marmara, rather than Israel, for the violence that accompanied the boarding of that ship. The remaining 32% are undecided.

I suppose, if you are a glass-half-empty sort of person, you could say that the MSM have succeeded in confusing one-half of all voters."

I've travelled most of the world, and got to say America has a disproportionate amount of idiots. Also Americans on the whole don't do politics (or geography for that matter), so it's a hollw claim to say that they agree with Israel. Let's face it, most of the civilized world, including the United Nations, doesn't approve of Israel's actions.

Is is most appropriate that a man like John Gold who is defending one groups of fascists would utilise the propaganda techniques of another group of fascists to make his case.

In the survey, as a side point, did they then ask them to point to where Israel was - and most pointed to Tasmania? :-) Acoording to American history, and films (The Patriot for example) - the Americans saved America (and not the French and Spanish in that given situation). And most other programming would have you believe that the geeks always get the girl, the money, and happiness (they're a nation of dreamers).

Regarding the United Nations, who I assume you are calling fascists, America use them quite a lot for their own purposes - And I'm sure the great American public that you look to for favour would agree that they're a good bunch!

Amber.

Firstly I've lived in America and lived in a number of states, in the centre, east, west, north, and south - and I can honestly say that - it's shocking how dumb the average American is!
The reason America (are a so-called super power, and I'll cover that point in a moment) is that there are some bright people running the country, and they've got some pretty decent engineers too. But the American wealth comes from the luxury of being able to tax (federal and state tax) 300 million people - equal to a whole continent. And yet in spite of that there are people, in some places, living in shantytowns, and walking around with no shoes on - with no healthcare for them.

Now onto the super power bit, when I first went to America and was trying to make a call in a call box from Illinois to bordering Wisconsin (about 8 miles), the message I got was that the call couldn't be connected because it was out of state, (I remember saying to myself, this is stupid - they can send a man to the moon, but can't connect me to a caller about 8 miles away), I also had to wait in a town for a week for a cheque to clear because many of the banks aren't national and wouldn't recognise the cheque. I have many more living examples that show that, if you call going to the moon, nuking Japan, and building b52 bombers a superpower then perhaps you need to think again!

Consider that China has as much in savings as America does have debt.
Asia is emerging as the new superpower (China and India).

But bringing you back to the point, and you'd be a fool to argue this - the majority of Americans are not interested in politics, and their history is almost void or twisted, and their sense of geography is laughable - probably due to the vast majority never leaving the country (and many not even owning a passport).

Gold, as you've been to the US 'n' all, you must know everything there is to know.

I am American, and probably know the US a bit more than you. Having lived here for some time, I can tell you that 1. Americans generally have a clearer sense of right and wrong 2. Americans are more adept at identifying BS 3. the Brits have enough morons as well, although they are more smug and snooty with it - your post being a case in point.

You started the generalizations, so I'm merely giving you some of my own.

So Gold, you really ARE a xenophobic backward small minded idiot.

Literacy levels in the US are the same as the UK, there are many crap Breitish films as you well know, and some excellent American ones. Look at YOUR past 4 prime ministers.

So what "point" are you trying to make?

Idiot.

Ronald Reagon -a b-movie actor (for crying out loud)
Clinton - A sex fiend
George Bush - war monger
George W Bush - brain dead or speech impediment? (you choose)

Admittedly America make a few decent movies, but that's about 1 in every 50, the other 49, that must be catering for the vast majority of Americans is brainless drivel.
What does that say about that nation?

And regarding the super - power comment (that was censored), as mentioned Russia were once considered a super-power about 15 years ago.
We now know that they were bankrupt, with no freedom for political or religious freedom.
Now China is considered a superpower - so if we ask all the Chinese population to answer on this same subject, or any other for that matter, would we get a sensible census back? And would it make their opinion more valid? Does this 'superpower term' even denote the IQ of that nation? Or does it reflect the country's population, manufacturing, taxation, and spend on military weapons?

You don't get a more honest opinion from all of humanity than the united nations because after all, it is represented by 'all (or most of) the nations of all of the earth'!
If they say you've screwed up then perhaps there's a very good chance you have screwed up!
On the other hand to take opinions of a country that has certain diplomatic or economic interests to protect, with their media giving them a view on life through the goggles of their own national identity - is perhaps foolish!

Gold, Reagan brought down the Soviet Union - not bad for an actor. I take it you are a fan of Thatcher then? Major also had an affair if you recall, Brown ran up a debt of historic proportions and Blair - you're a fan of him too? So you can wipe your arrogant smirk off your stupid face.

When you talk in such a small minded xenophobic manner, with ill thought sweeping generalizations, you just make yourself look stupid - correction - confirm your stupidity.

Moron.
