The growing trend of the Israeli police turning a blind eye

I'm really not sure why my last post was closed from taking comments? I hope 'JC' isn't operating as the 'thought police'..

It's a very important topic, and if any of you have taken the time to watch the (Israel national) news footage links and the personal recordings (in my original post)- you can see this is not hearsay but very real.
Although some may not agree with the liberal movement or the messianic movement - people need to speak out against such violence and discrimination because you don't know who will be targeted next...

Once religious fundamentalists have free reign and influence to do as they please, it will be a case of 'the lunatics running the asylum'.

Do you know what the Israeli police turn a blind eye to? Dead female bodies at the sides of roads. Dead female bodies that have been planted there to look like motor accident victims (and are more often than not recorded as such by the police who know very well that they are victims of Arab "honour killings" but are prepared to overlook these crimes in order to placate Arab opinion - after all, the victims are only women, and "honour killings" are part of Palestinian culture).

Yvetta, I have heard of stereotyping, but you have made it in to an art form. Please supply chapter and verse revealing this claim.

You refer to palistinian stories which may or may not be true - however I have provided a number of sources captured on video (not the musings of people in print form) - that show that the police are not impartial and serve justice only to those that share their narrow belief. These videos also highlight the nasty side of some orthodox that go around in mobs harrassing and even attempting to kill people!

Moshe, there's an analysis of it in a fairly recent academic book re women in Israel that I was given a few years ago; if I find said tome in the next day or two I'll tell you its name.

Wow, its like Cowboys and Indians! Anybody noticed the world has many colours and is not simply monochrome? Yvetta, honour killings happen all over the world, I know and they are a despicable, senseless thing. Your care for Palestinian women is lovely, though I must admit I am not aware of the reports you talk of. I think perhaps I should investigate.

However, whatever the truth of these claims it does not render all Israel Police force do necessarily as without error. Multiple wrongs don't create a right and we need to start realising, as I believe John and Moshet are saying, that there is a whole big picture here and we need to be honest with ourselves about this. I don't imagine either of them is saying all Palestinians are angels any more than they are suggesting perhaps Israeli Police Force actions are not angelic.

John, one of my posts disappeared too, on an unrelated subject I have to say.

Thanks for your comments, which are always appreciated!

I wish that I could say it's an isolated police incident (aren't there a few bad apples in each barrel?) however it's not and if you look at what one of the guys in the video said it was 'not an isolated incident' hence becoming worried with things, and hence another group having to bring the case to the courts, as local government and police were not only passive but seemed to be positively supportive and involved in these matters.

When you hear something that shows that Israel has some serious issues to deal with. Regarding law and order - you (in) conveniently change the subject or talk about Palestinians, in order to deflect the focus and avoid others gaze on the country's wrong doings.

I am not biased for or against Israel but will point out matters where both parties need to take an honest hard look at themselves.

What is worse a terrorist committing a terrorist act or a policeman (that represents the government at ground level) obstructing justice - and allowing terror?

No one can deny the cynical nature of putting a bomb in a purim package and sending it to a child (similar to putting bombs in christmas presents)...

Wake up and smell the coffee (there are some dark happenings in Israel)...

I've just had a lovely cup of Kenyan filter ...
The book I referred to was reviewed about two years ago in The Jewish Journal of Sociology, so, Moshe, if you hasten on down to the uni library in the Granite City you can read the facts about those women for yourself ...

OK, Yvetta, I will look for the JJS. However, having read the sensationalist Hebrew press since the age of about 10 -- that's more than 40 years ago -- I cannot recall more than two or three reports of such cases. As for "high-tailing" it out of Israel, it's pretty simples, as Alexandr Orlov would say. I got offered a job in my field with far better terms and conditions than any Israeli company could hope to offer. I have had three offers from Israeli firms to return.
By the way, Kenyan coffee is nice, even gefiltered, but for a proper wake up, it's a double espresso followed by a 5k run. Even in the snow.

Mind you, it is a very leftist/feminist tome - it's around here somewhere - where I'm not quite sure. I have too many books, which means I can rarely find the one I really need ... (Best coffee in my limited experience is the Robert Timms coffee bag series in A Land Down Under.)

G'day, cobber!

In that old Aussie phrase, "She'll be right, mate!" ;~)

Hey, Moshe - will you be going to "The Muslim, The Jew, and the Chicken" performance?
