Settler sees sense

In Haaretz, Yisrael Harel, a former leader of the settler movement and editor of their magazine Nekuda, has made the logical point that Israel is ignoring its only land reserve for housing future generations - the Negev. Could this herald a shift of opinion among settlers?

Some time ago a Mancunian gentleman wrote to the "Australian Jewish News" extolling the merits of a book by a chap called Di Bono which apparently argues that developing the Negev holds the key to peace by proving Palestinians with work. I can't remember all of the letter now - but I've never found any review of that book anywhere. Strange it hasn't been given more of an airing, whether kooky or not.

But is The JC protecting him? And why?

I didn't realise denial and stupidity were contangeous, but you seem to have caught both from your self-aggrandising mate. Has he got a reply yet from Ovadia for the JC staff to be barred from Israel?

telegramsam,

You can call yourself The QE2.

But why do you deny your former moniker?

Are you a liar?

No he doesn't, you have been exposed, everyone here knows the truth, but you just haven't got the spine or guts to admit it.

Anthony - with all that is connected to the moshe tzarfati/telegramsam psychodelic consortium, I smell ... NIF support. He's their lackey.

Avraham, you're back. Thank goodness. I feared the men in the white suits had come to take you away. Any response from Ovadiah or Eli yet?

A concert hall/theatre for the settlers. How nice. A bit of kultchah for the nikoulturny. I give it a year before no one apart from 9th-division slebs perform there, despite kultural komissar Livnat's threats.

By the way, the ignorance of anti-'zionists' is incredible.

The Negev is one of the most arid places in the world. Of course it cannot presently sustain life on a large scale. But it is far from being unexploited by Israel.
Israel nuclear industry is there. Most of Israel's solar technology is tested there. And of course, some day Israel will make this desert bloom, once the agressivity of neighbouring Arab countries will stop and allow Israel to spend more of its money in the building of the country.

I'm sure others will follow Hayik Bamot's example. It deserves a post of it's own!
