Objective news

Channel 4 News was effectively a Hamas propaganda vehicle during Cast Lead. But this, from its coverage of the inauguration of President Obama, is simply breathtaking.

Go to 7'55''. Jon Snow is interviewing Maureen Dowd, and begins the conversation thus:

Well now the nightmare is over, I think we can call it a nightmare without in anyway being anything other than objective.

Er, yes, Jon; in your world.

Jon is an affront to journalism.

Did you see his interview with Mark Regev?

Disgusting.

my friend did it! it gets to the quickly point about biased news and quotes OFCOMS own rules. you can copy it into channel 4s complaint page @ http://help.channel4.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=C4_Author,Compan... and OFCOMS webpage @ www.ofcom.org.uk/complain
i do not use real email and put 00000 as my and telephone number to stop any junk mail and calls. i have complained for some friends as well.

Channel 4 letter

subject - impartial news

Please investigate the news that was shown on the 21/01/09.

Jon Snow said that ""Well now the nightmare is over, I think we can call it a nightmare without in anyway being anything other than objective." [in relation to President Bush]"

This appears to break OFCOMS rules about impartiality which state that "news, in whatever form, must be reported with due accuracy and presented with due impartiality."

Please investigate this apparent breach of rules.

Thank you.

OFCOM letter

subject - impartial news

All newsreaders are meant to be impartial. I have no views of my own about President Bush.

However, for a newsreader to say that:

"Well now the nightmare is over, I think we can call it a nightmare without in anyway being anything other than objective." [in relation to President Bush]

Is an apparent breach of your rules about impartiality that state that "news, in whatever form, must be reported with due accuracy and presented with due impartiality."

Please investigate this apparent breach.

Thank you.
