So the Chinese premier's three-day visit to London has been disrupted by pro-Tibet rallies, demonstrators, and even a shoe-thrower.
Take note, those who gripe that do-gooders protest against Israeli human rights abuses but not those of China, Sudan, or Zimbabwe.
Seems that, actually, they do.

Because one person throws a shoe, that means that the obscene silence over every other conflict in the world (and a myopic focus on Israel), by those who claim to be concerned for universal human rights, is a figment of our imagination? I enjoy reading your columns, but this glib comment does you a disservice. |
