Netanyahu affirms he 'destroyed the Oslo peace process'

Netanyahu affirms he 'destroyed the Oslo peace process' - the admission was filmed without his knowledge and appeared on Israel’s Channel 10. In the footage of Nethanyhu visiting the Ofra settlement he states he deceived the US into believing he was implimenting the Oslo peace process by making minor withdrawals in the West Bank, while simulateously expanding the Israeli occupation. This difference between Netanyahu's 'public' stance with the US when pressured, and his actual implimentation of these policies remains a major barrier in achieving a lasting peace deal. Netanyahu has also agreed to the principle of a Palestinian state, yet continued sanctioning further settlements during the 'settlement freeze'.

Meanwhile, the Palestinians didn't do a single progress on their part of the Oslo Accords.
The first step was to renounce violence. Did they? No, they did not. On the contrary, there were two "intifadas", suicide bombings that killed more than one thousand civilians, and the permanent rocketting of western Neguev area for eight years, hostage taking, etc.
Moreover, PLO never accepted to remove the violent articles of its Charter. Even that, they couldn't do, although it costed them nothing.

In other words, the Palestinian did nothing to have peace, not even sitting at the negociation table ever since Oslo.

Israel offered ridiculous terms that they knew were impossible for Palestinian leadership to accept during Oslo. Plus Netanyahu confirms in this video, he totally ignored Oslo and carried on building Jewish settlements as he wished. Israel does not want peace, trying to lay the blame on the Palestinians will no longer wash

"Israel offered ridiculous terms that they knew were impossible for Palestinian leadership to accept during Oslo."

What??? You're also against Oslo? Do you know that Arafat got a Nobel Prize for it? Rabin and Peres as well, by the way.

There we see clearly who are the enemies of peace. They will deny every agreement to be enough, until the Jews get back 'home', to Germany, Poland... Like some racist US journalist said.

I am not against Oslo, but it was a joke. Let me paint a picture for you. Your land (Palestine) has been occupied by another country (Israel) they are occupying your land and building illegal settlements on your land, redrawing the borders of Jerusalem illegally to absorb more territory into Israel.

Oslo simply meant Israel and the PLO recognised each other.

As Avi Shlaim states in his book 'Israel and Palestine' 'Netanyahu spent his two and a half years in power in a relentless attempt to arrest, freeze and subvert the Oslo accords. He kept preaching reciprocity while acting unilaterally in demolishing Arab houses, imposing curfews, confiscating Arab land, building new settlements...'

Plus after 1999 under Ehud Barak settlements increased dramatically and undermined the Oslo peace process, showing Israel was not, and is still not committed to peace

"I am not against Oslo, but it was a joke."

Arafat made it a joke.

"Your land (Palestine)"

Palestine was Ottoman. Should the world return the land to the Turks?
Palestine was Roman. Should the world return the land to the Italians?
Why do you insist to return it only to Arabs who occupied it, just like the others?
Then Palestine was Israel. Why don't you insist to return it to the Jews?
Double standards=racism.

The PLO never rejected the use of violence. See their Charter. That was Oslo's first requirement and event that was not met by the clown Arafat.

The translation reads like typical Pally propaganda. Netanyahu clearly knew he was being filmed (it wasn't "secret") and Prime Ministers do not generally go around plotting nefariously against allies in front of TV cameras and families.

I don't speak Hebrew however I have sent it to Israeli contacts for verification.

ibrows quotes propaganda from the palestine chronicle web site and then from the quasi-academic, from the premier league of self-haters, Avi Shlaim.

A pretty pointless effort.
