My Disgust at Comments on the West Ham United Official Facebook Site

I have been a lifelong fan of West Ham United but I am extremely concerned and disappointed by the clarly antisemetic rantings of some of the fans of the last few days. I really do think that West Ham need to screen these comments and block the offending members from writing on their Facebook site. I cannot believe they are allowed to put such things on a public platform such as Facebook.

Once comments like that start it is important to stand up to them. Otherwise they become the norm.

I think it's worth remembering that the people that post that kind of thing are a small minority, and they would never get away with saying similar things in real life. But it serves a lesson in what can happen if people don't oppose anti-Semitism in all its forms.

I recently met someone visiting Tel Aviv who, I understand, has a substantial interest in WHFC. I will aim to bring this matter to his attention.

Howard, have you complained to the powers that be at West Ham?

West Ham's fan base has for many years included many with exteme right wing persuasions.
However, with the recent change in ownership, Jewish Owners and an Israeli Manager you would have thought they would take steps to stamp out this kind of behaviour.
The best approach is to write to the Chairman with the specific examples.
Other clubs with a core of right wing support have done very well in stamping out racism in the grounds with help of the FA's "Kick It Out"; kick racism out of football campaign.
