"I am delighted that the Guardian has seen fit to devote a whole page to proving the truth of my new book, "The World Turned Upside Down: The Global Battle over God, Truth and Power". Read this piece by John Crace to see what really does pass for wit, intelligence and reasoned argument in such quarters. Beyond pathetic."

(Interesting to note that The JC has already deleted Tom Eisner's post which, of course, supported Crace's review. I wonder whether the above will meet the same fate.)

Examples of John Crace's wit: "The anti-Semitic lies proliferate at a terrifying speed. The most pernicious is that Israel has no sense of humour. What's not to laugh about Mossad agents flying in to Dubai and taking out an Arab?"

"Secularism is the curse of modern life. If everyone went to Synagogue to thank the Intelligent Designer there would be no more conflict. Instead there is a global coalition of Muslims, environmentalists and vegetarians whose sole purpose is to destroy the state of Israel."

Some comments posted on Melanie's blog re The Guardian's review:

Peter wrote:
"I challenge anyone to read this piece to the end."

Mladen Andrijasevic wrote:
"Melanie Phillips ends her book with:
“In repudiating Jewish teachings and its moral codes, the West has turned upon the modern world itself. In turning upon the State of Israel, the West is undermining its defenses against the enemies of modernity and the Western civilization that produced it. The great question is whether it actually wants to defend reason and modernity anymore, or weather Western civilization has now reached a point where it has stopped trying to survive.“

Apparently, many have not only stopped trying to survive. They are, like John Crace, already brain-dead."

Tom Meisner,
I know that you are a fan of The Guardian's review. But, of course, that doesn't mean that you are "beyond pathetic". Does it?

Tom,

Why didn't you thank me, when I fought to protect your freedom of expression?

Are you not delighted that The Guardian's review is now on The JC ?

Has everyone had a sense of humour failure? Or are your bellys now full from laughing at the 'We Con the World' song.

I thought the review was very funny and it summed up Mad (the muzzies are coming) Mel very well.

Zair, the problem is that in the ghetto they lose their sense of humour.
