Land as fetish

Some people fetishise feet. Others have a prediliction for leather. But it seems that there is a category of people whose fetish is land (especially if it's not even their own). They place this land, together with blood and otjer symbols, above all else -- especially human life. They think it's big and it's clever. But it is not.

The trouble with blogs is that there is no editorial control and anyone can post anything masquerading as an 'article', however inane and utterly devoid of content it is.

Hey, Jonathan, is that today's instruction from Danny Ayalon?

I agree with you, Moshe; Hamas are just sick aren't they.

Hamas are indeed sick, Rich, just like any one who fetishises land and place it above human life (Israel's far right government and its parrots abroad, for instance, are a good example of this).

Nah, you have it all wrong. Israelis fetishise security. Most Israelis would stick two fingers up at you as you criticise them from the safety and security of your sofa in the UK.

Nah, Rich, Israelis on the far right (those in government now) fetishise land and blood. And from your sofa in the UK, you appear willing to fight to the last Israeli.

Is that how I appear? You have a fertile imagination. Don't blame me, blame every Israeli for voting in the government. You are shooting the messenger as usual.

Yes, Rich, that is how you appear. And the claim about shooting the messenger does not fit here because the messenger is not conveying someone else's view. It appears that you are conveying your own view.

I'm conveying the view of the Israeli electorate who seem to be saying stuff you.

And rather than parroting other people, I'm conveying my view, which says: Israel is in danger of eating itself by continuing ts expansionist and brutal policies towards the Palestinians. Israel needs not to be right, it needs to be wise. And its sagacity appears to have gone AWOL. Its got into the situation it is now, not because of Hasbarah, or the Arabs, Hamas, the PLO, the BBC, the Guardian, IJW, JfJfP and all the other hate figures of the Israeli far right and its apologists. It is in the position that it is in because "wise people don't get into situations that clever people can get out of".

I trust the view of the Israeli citizens who are living the life over you living in the UK.

You live in the UK, too, Rich. So how many Israelis are you willing to see die to keep hold of the occupied territories? Or perhaps it will be enough for you that Israel disappears?

Let the Israelis decide that, Moshe. You and I don't really count in the scheme of things. We don't live there.
