County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who had called for the policy review, said Friday that the council will attempt to permanently bar such provocative ads while not infringing on free speech rights.

He said people have the right to voice their opinions, "but I don't think the public should have to subsidize public transportation to advertise messages of hate."

Reason prevails... Sometimes!

Let's remember public transportation is also partly tax money at work. And hatemongering is not part of their public service mission.

The cancellation of the proposed pro-Hamas Bus adverts in King County was down to a massive twitter and PR campaign by "Act For Israel" in the States, and thanks to councillors:-
Jane Hague
Pete Von Reichbauer
Reagan Dunn
Larry Gossett
Kathy lambert
Larry Phillips
Julia Patterson
Linda Thielke
Bob Ferguson
Of the King County Executive
In the press release they state that they will no longer accept advertising of a non-commercial nature; they are there to provide a bus service, not a political platform.

Sense prevailed!!

Monday is the two-year anniversary of Israel attacking Gaza. The three-week invasion, begun after Israel received incessant rocket barrages, left more than 1,400 Palestinians dead, including many civilians.

Porky pies.

Excellent news!

British Jewish leadership - take note. THAT'S how it's done. Not by being meek and a quiet word here and there. Shouting out loud, as they do in the States, works.
