A stunningly well argued piece here by Denis MacShane on the hypocrisy and self-defeating nature of the boycott / divestment / sanctions (BDS) movement:

I'd never heard of him before, but I've just added him to my list of favourite MPs :)

Why can't us Jews have leaders like Denis MacShane, instead of crap like Davis?

Matt, I'm surprised you have not heard of the great Dennis MacShane. He is a signatory of the Henry Jackson Society principles, advocating a proactive approach to the spread of liberal democracy across the world, including by military intervention. The society also supports "European military modernisation and integration under British leadership". In 2003 he criticised the Muslim community, saying they did not do enough to condemn acts of Islamic terrorism. He was a supporter of the 2003 invasion of Iraq and has strongly supported Tony Blair's foreign policy in relation to the Middle East, and elsewhere.

He was chair of the inquiry panel of the All-Party Parliamentary Group against Anti-Semitism, which reported in September 2006. Other members included Iain Duncan Smith and Chris Huhne. In March 2009, he became chairman of a think-tank on anti-Semitism, the European Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism. He is an advisory board member of Just Journalism, which aims to promote accurate and responsible reporting about Israel in the UK media.
Unfortunately, on 14 October 2010 it was announced that the Parliamentary Labour Party has withdrawn the whip from MacShane while he is under criminal investigation for his conduct re expenses.

The Bubble Maker: You do, he's called Jonathan Hoffman, and the suicidal left are waging a smear campaign to bring him down for it.

Bubble, with respect, I believe British Jews have leaders who represent the views and wishes of the wider Jewish community

Mattpryor, good point! And the more they attack him, shows how effective he really is.

A pity he can't be cloned!

Telegramsam knows no more about the views of the "wider Jewish community" than he or she knows about the views of the public at large. He or she is merely projecting his own twisted views of the world onto everyone else.

And when I talk about the suicidal left, he or she is a prime example.

This joke serves as an introduction to the next one.

A Chinaman is sitting alone in a pub, drinking his beer. Suddenly a Jewish guy comes up to him and punches him in the face.

"What on earth was that for?" gasps the Chinaman.

"For Pearl Harbor", says the Jewish guy.

"But that was the Japanese: I'm Chinese!" says the Chinaman.

"Chinese, Japanese - what's the difference?" says the Jewish guy, and walks back to his table.

A few minutes later the Chinaman comes up to the Jew and smashes him in the face.

"What was that for?"

"That was for the Titanic".

"But the Titanic was sunk by an iceberg!"

"Iceberg, Goldberg - what's the difference?"

------

A man was hit by a train, and spent almost a year in hospital and another six months in recuperation.

When he finally arrived home, his wife put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea. As the water started boiling, the old-fashioned kettle whistle started shrieking. When the man heard this he immediately grabbed the kettle, threw it on the floor, and stamped on it until it was completely flattened.

When his wife asked him why on earth he had done that, he replied: "these bastards must be killed why they're still young".

------

Leftists, kettles - what's the difference?

Bubble, with respect, I do believe we have been introduced, albeit informally, over at a website that has speard some somewhat horrible lies and conjecture about the JC and its staff.

Telegramsam, I am unaware of any website that has "speard some somewhat horrible lies and conjecture about the JC and its staff."

Could you kindly post a url to such a site?

The Bubble maker has some good jokes; and is right, Stephen Harper, Jose Aznar and now Dennis McShane and with Mat Pryor on these blogs, thank God for these "righteous gentiles" who see "it as it is", as for our UK Jewish lay "leadersheep", just that "leadersheep" - so sad.

I know this is OT, but I just wanted to say (holding back tears)how proud I am for being mentioned on the JCWatch website. I am now in the illustrious company of greats such as telegramsam, yankeeuxb. (Choking up)More importantly I am not considered 'small fry'. I wish to thank all those extremists and bigots on this site who force me to challenge their views, esp the knee jerk 'anti-semite' brigade, there are too many to mention, but you know who you are. I shall if allowed continue in this good work and look forward to many more accolades in JCWatch. Thank you.
