Israel loves immigration; hates immigrants

Over the past 20 years, more than a million and a half people have emigrated to Israel, among them doctors, engineers and spiritual leaders. But Israelis aren't impressed; according to a new survey, half of them think this immigration has done more harm than good.

The survey was carried out by the Ministry of Absorption and was reported on Army Radio. Among the findings: 50% per cent of the public believes the large waves of immigration have had a negative impact on crime rates, and 62% blame the immigrants for the rise in alcoholism among the country's youth.

The survey also shows that nearly a third of respondents believe olim have made it more difficult for locals to find work and housing.

it seems also that more than one third of prisoners in Israeli army jails are from immigrant families.

"They come here, stealing our jobs and our homes...And they are alcoholic criminals". Seems the Israelis aren't so super, special wonderful after all.

I'm not of a suspicious nature, Moshe, but if I was, I'd bet my bottom dollar that you and Gordon are cut from the same bale of red cloth.
btw, "gordon bennett!", an expression I'd not encountered hitherto, was used as an expletive - mild, of course - on EastEnders last night, which I watched for ten minutes while channel-hopping prior to Panorama. Any relation, do you think?

Who knows if Gordon and I are related. His parents must have had some sense of humour, tho.

Those Israelis! Ugh, whatever next. They should be holier than thou.

I think Gordon and Moshe are the same person. Apparently, they are never seen in the same room together. Very suspicious.

Rich, I think Bibi Netanyahu and Ahmadinnerjacket have never been seen together, either. Does that make them the same person?

Yeah, but Bibi and Mahmoud don't talk the same lingo.
You and Gordon, on the other hand ... let's just say that I swear you could finish each other's sentences!
