Do you think blogging is just posting inane headlines and links to articles or do you have any analytical ability at all?

Silly question.

"Isrqel now looks set to have to broaden enquiry into the flotilla massacre."

This was no more a massacre than you are a decent human being.

Could The JC staff not do some sort of moderation on these blogs? I wouldn't mind anti-Israel arguments if they were well written and started off a good debate, or original, or something, but this is just spam and it obscures the decent blog posts.

tanya is pointing out that, israel being a full western democracy, the flotilla enquiry is already being controlled and altered by the courts, and not dictated by the government

a petition from gush shalom has already had an effect, and is to be fully heard in nine days, see http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=29566

Israel's Supreme Court was due to hear a petition filed by Gush Shalom calling for greater scope, which has been delayed until 11 July. According to a statement issued by the group, the Tirkel committee's activities will be suspended until the petition is heard.

"Even before our petition could come before the Supreme Court, the government accepted our primary contention – the Tirkel Committee was not given the necessary authority to conduct a thorough and independent investigation," Uri Avnery, the founder of Gush Shalom, said.

The Supreme Court informed Gush Shalom that its petition to dismantle the Tirkel Committee, due to be heard on Wednesday, would be delayed for 10 days, after Tirkel had asked the Israeli political echelon to reconsider the authority given to the committee.

"It seems that already before our appeal got to any hearing before the court, the State representatives in practice admit Gush Shalom's main contention - that the Tirkel Committee, with the very narrow authority and mandate given it by the government, was not able to conduct a serious investigation into the circumstances which led to the killing of nine passengers on the Gaza Flotilla, and subsequently to a severe damage of Israel's international position. I am glad to see that the Prime Minister apparently has also understood this, even if belatedly" said Avnery.

Avnery added that the group will not withdraw its demand to form a Judicial Commission of Inquiry, "independent and fully empowered, which is the instrument created by Israeli law exactly for sensitive investigations of this kind."

"A thorough and independent investigation is needed, first of all, not for the Americans, not for the Turks, and not for the UN but for ourselves, for the sake of Israel's future in order to help prevent such grave fiascos from happening again."

(this ma'an report can be confirmed from gush shalom's own website, at (16/6/2010) http://zope.gush-shalom.org/home/en/channels/press_releases/1276637375 and (29/6/2010) http://zope.gush-shalom.org/home/en/events/1277833139/)

tanya is doubtless drawing attention to the fact that (whatever one may think of the israeli government) the checks and balances of the israeli democratic system are to be praised, and of course far better than one would expect of any of israel's neighbours

How about the darkness of Europe? The Bloody Sunday massacre took place on 30 January 1972. The report of the public enquiry into the killings was published on 15 June 2010.

And 'Tanya' will certainly remind us how Erdogan troops massacre Kurd rebells on a nearly daily basis. No?
I am always suspectful when some condemn unilateraly, blaming the alleged 'wrongs' of some while whitewashing same kind of 'wrongs' from the other part. That means double-standards, meaning in this case racism.
