Is Clegg an Ill-liberal Tongocrat?

The underlying issue facing the UK electorate is the political beliefs of Mr Nick Clegg... leader of The Ill-liberal Tongocrats. Here are some relevant articles courtesy of the "Oy Va Goy" website:

Nick Clegg, a candidate for the Liberal Democrat leadership, has warned against Britain "sleepwalking" into a conflict with Iran and called on Gordon Brown to rule out any prospect of supporting military action by the United States against the country.

The Prime Minister said this week he will "rule nothing out" while seeking a diplomatic resolution to the demands by the United Nations for Iran to suspend its enrichment of uranium.

But in a letter to Mr Brown, Mr Clegg expressed concern that given the Prime Minister's comments it was possible that the government could repeat the strategic mistakes that led to the invasion of Iraq.

In the letter Mr Clegg writes: "The rumble of war with Iraq started with similar sabre-rattling from President Bush. The war with Iraq has put back the cause of Middle East peace, failed to make Iraq more stable and has made it more difficult for Britain to argue for the rule of international law."

The Prime Minister has made it clear that he will push for tougher sanctions against Iran's oil and gas industry as well as tightening the financial screws on Iranian banks if the report on Iran's nuclear programme published today by Mohamed ElBaradei, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), shows that Tehran is still defying the international community. However, he has refused to go as far as Jack Straw, when he was foreign secretary, in saying that support for military action against Iran would be "inconceivable".

Mr Clegg said it was vital to show absolute commitment to international law, but it appeared that Mr Brown was ready to give "a blank cheque" to President Bush to pursue an aggressive policy "with no sense of independent British foreign policy priorities".

He warned: "As President Bush nears the end of his term in office, it is essential that his administration is left in no doubt that a last-minute dash towards unilateral military action will not be supported by Britain.

"Such action would risk another major conflagration in the region and in any event is widely viewed by experts as implausible on military grounds alone."

Mr Clegg said it was "nonsense" to suggest all options should be left open to maximise leverage on Iran. Threats of military action risked strengthening the position of the hardliners in Iran, he said.

Mr Brown has said he believes the sanctions are beginning to work, but there are fears in Whitehall that ruling out military action would ease the pressure on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian President, ahead of today's IAEA report. They say cracks are beginning to show in his regime. Ali Larijani, the former top security official in Iran, resigned last month in the midst of tensions with his President over the negotiations with the UN.

Clegg speaks with Forked Tonge.

To paraphrase the late George Carman QC re Arthur Scargill: "Entrusting Nick Clegg with the task of giving spinning Jenny the old heave-ho is as dangerous as trusting Satan to abolish sin."

(Straw re arrest warrants similarly).

It is well known that the "Tonge Affair" has split the LibDems.

Less well known is that it has split the Israel-knockers.

JFJFP is not protesting to Clegg about her sacking.

Others are.

Jonathan,
if you are going to go about the Israel knockers well I will do the same about the Palestinian bashers. Now my dear fellow please could you possibly answer my question of a few days ago. Have you ever met a Palestinian?

Hold your horses folks...
Iran has nothing to do with Britain, why do you want them drawn into this battle?

Britain have already been drawn into the Iraq war, and Afghanistan - off the back of arabs bombing America because of their bias towards Israel.
We really don't need to be pulled into another needless war for Israel - If Israel don't understand diplomacy then they should fight their own wars and suffer the consequences of their own actions - not manipulate Britain and America to fight their wars for them.

John Gold, your post is absurd, and reeks of conspiracy theories against those naughty neo-cons. The West is not fighting Israel's wars - it is fighting the West's wars.

It could be a schmaltz herring, Yvetta. In which case it will go very nicely with some eggs (and onions) from China. Even.

You say it's conspiracy theory stuff?

OK America trade centres were bombed why and by whom?

Arabs that didn't like zionism, and America's support for zionism - do you have another different explanation?

George Bush calling Iran the axis of evil and that they were dangerous - are they really dangerous to America - look where America is situated? Only a minor threat to Israel.

Israel want to dominate the middle east (which in turn suits America, as they can control yet another continent by proxy), having fractured the Lebanese economy, Iraq being deposed (which again suited Israel), now the only other regional powers are Iran, Turkey and Israel - any wonder we hear all this stuff about Iran?

This isn't conspiracy theory stuff - this is how politics works. If you are neive neough to believe that it's because of crazy arabs or religious fundamentalists then it looks like the media have reached their gullible audience.

A lot in the life of politics is simple cause and effect - and based on either greed for more land/ power or revenge.

Israel wants to dominate the Middle East?
Puh-leeze!!!
Israel seeks security in the Middle East,
It's Iran and the mad mullahs that want to dominate the region - and beyond! Israel is not the chief trigger for Islamic terror - Islamic fanaticism is, and would continue if Israel were to disappear. Don't scapegoat Israel.

I'm not in the business of demonising any nation (or anyone), and I'm not doing that now but you should look into your history a little deeper (than merely from a Zionist perspective).

Did you know that the wars with Egypt, that then led onto the Suez canal closure, and further diplomatic problems with your neighbors, and then war which then brought UK and France into the war - was created by Israel?

Israeli terrorists tried blowing up the American embassy in Egypt, done because Israel were jealous of their then relationship with USA (when Israel didn't have a relationship with America or anyone else for that matter). So you need to look beyond the Israel (and Jews) are always victims (of the Europeans or the Arabs etc) - they started that whole war that went on for decades (and was started in an underhand terrorist like fashion) - this is not conspiracy theory. Check this out for a start.

"in 1954, an Israeli spy ring was caught trying to blow up the US Information agency and other foreign institutions in Egypt. The goal was to create tension between the US and Egypt and prevent rapprochement. In Israel, both Defense Minister Pinhas Lavon and Prime Minister David Ben Gurion disclaimed responsibility for the action, and blamed each other. This incident came to be known variously as "the Lavon affair"

As for the world trade centre
Why would arabs hate America? (other than their staunch support for zionism)...?
There is absolutely no other reason?

Lebanon:

Before the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990), the country experienced a period of relative calm and prosperity, driven by tourism, agriculture, and banking.[10] Because of its financial power and diversity, Lebanon was known in its heyday as the "Switzerland of the East".[11] It attracted large numbers of tourists,[12] such that the capital Beirut was referred to as "Paris of the Middle East." At the end of the war, there were extensive efforts to revive the economy and rebuild national infrastructure.[13]

Until July 2006, Lebanon enjoyed considerable stability, Beirut's reconstruction was almost complete,[14] and increasing numbers of tourists poured into the nation's resorts.[12] Then, the month long 2006 War between Israel and Hezbollah caused significant civilian death and heavy damage to Lebanon's civil infrastructure.

For the record, America and Britain have a lot to answer for (as do Spain, France, Germany Russia etc) regarding imperialism and meddling in others affairs for their own benefit - politics is often a dirty thing behind the scenes...
