Last Sunday, my wife was physically assaulted in the street in Kingston by a young man who addressed her by name and made threats against our lives. He said that Kingston (University) hadn't been able to shut us down, but that to (Hizb ut Tahrir) "us" Jewish lives are worth nothing. This terrifying incident came on the heels of a recent interview I did with Westminster Journal about the experiences with anti-Semitism, which we both had while employed by Kingston University between 2002-2006.
The University had hired a man, who is now the Chair of the Board of Governors at a Hizb ut Tahrir sponsored school, to perform a so-called "independent" investigation of allegations of wrongdoing by me, which as might be expected, resulted in my dismissal. My having exposed this and other actions by the University on a website has now apparently resulted in threats of physical violence and actual assault.
Are these actions directed by the University and its officials, by the leadership of Hizb ut Tahrir, by the "independent" investigator himself or by a rogue individual, who was upset by having the truth brought to the public attention? Who really knows. All I do know is that this is anti-Semitic terrorism, plain and simple, and of the most elemental kind -- a threat against the life of Jewish people.
Why has there been no reporting in the major Jewish press? Are we afraid of angering the powers that be, the "system," by asserting that there is, indeed, anti-Semitism in Britain? Do we really think that everything will be alright as long as we don't "step out of line" and call things as we really see them? Or will our silence just embolden those who would seek to instill terror in our hearts and to disrupt our ability to enjoy our lives in peace?
