Clegg and Israel explained

I think I've discovered why Nick Clegg loathes Israel so much:

"Every morning he was addicted to reading the Financial Times.”

Please put your horrible right-wing stick away! Do you honestly think the Labour and Tory candidates/MPs adore Israel, or do you think they might overtly support it because (a) the funding they receive; (b) they have more Jewish constituents.

The LDs have one nasty anti-semite (Tonge) and the majority are ambivalent or positive, just like EVERY other party.

The fact that you can not even think about criticising Israel for its present policies (along with rightful praise) doesn't make you a 'friend' of the country; it makes you a dogmatic fundamentalist just like all those you claim to abhore.

The Liberal Democrats would have sacked a nasty Islamaphobic politician if they had upset the Muslims but when it comes to Anti Semitism there are different standards applied and by keeping Tongue in the party, leads Jews to believe that anti Semitism is tolerated by the Liberal Democrats. No party should have these double standards.

Nick Clegg is a danger not merely to Israel, but to Jews in Britain also. In my view it would not be too much of an exaggeration to describe him as the soft face of antisemitism in this country today. He claims to recognize Israel’s right to defend itself (how could he not?) but he wants to deny Israel the ability to do so by starving it of weapons sales. And he justifies this by a hostile Middle East narrative which has the effect of encouraging hatred of Jews in the UK.

Any Jew who votes for him is a fool. And if you don't believe me, check out this article which talks about the company he keeps:

The laser-like accuracy of Stephen Pollard's comment was driven home today when I was reading an article about Israel in the FT by Gideon Rachman. It is hard to conceive of a less objective article, or indeed one that contains more half-truths and raw prejudice about Israel.
