Why did Israel refuse Chomsky entry? What is wrong with having a different opinion? Is this a sign of the far right Government of Netanyahu so scared of the world dicovering the truth about their past that they have to ban intelligent people visiting?

To be hosted by Moustafa Barghouti, the Bargouti family boasts Marwan Bargouti, in prison serving 5 consecutive life sentences for murder of Israeli civilians - nice Company Chomnsky was planning to associate himself with.
As for "dicovering" the truth, he's just another left wing so-called academic with a trendy -lefty, let's bash Israel agenda, intelligent in who's opinion? tomeisner2's?

Seems like you maye be putting 2 and 2 together to make the 66 that you wish for.

"An Israeli Interior Ministry spokesman said that the ministry would do all it could to ensure Professor Chomsky could get into the country. She said: "We are trying to contact the military to clear things up, and if they have no objection we see no reason why he should not be allowed in." "

Eisner's arrogance knows no bounds - apparently he speaks for the entire globe now as well.

eisner, how many academics with anti-Hamas views have spoken in Gaza recently? And how many academics critical of Fatah have spoken in Ramallah?

That's sheer hypocrisy, and you know it.

It's a wonder the odious defamer of Israel didn't plan plan on visiting Tel Aviv University, which has been dubbed "The Berkeley of Israel".
As Isi Leibler asks in a brilliant article, why do academics who preach sedition - yes, sedition - against their own country wind up with tenure? It seems TAU tolerates in the loony left what it would call fascist indoctrination of students if preached by the radical right.

The decision to refuse Chomsky entry to the territories so that he could lecture at Bir-zeit University was a piece of nonsense, serving no purpose other than to boost his already overblown ego.

Nothing Chomsky can say can have any bearing or influence on anyone other than his dwindling bunch of staunch admirers. His lecture, relayed by video conference to the Bir-Zeit students, was a re-hash of all the anti-American Imperialism, anti-Israeli rhetoric Chomsky has been serving up for the past 40 years. In summary, a non-event given undue importance by an over-zealous border guard.
