BDS updates

It is with sadness that Tindersticks announce the cancellation of their forthcoming concerts in Tel Aviv.

When agreeing to play our music in Israel we, perhaps naively, believed that the music we make is beyond political considerations.

Over the past weeks, the pressure exerted on us by people and organisations, some close to us, has shown us that this is not the case. It is difficult to defy a rapidly growing movement with whose aims we agree, even if we are not wholly convinced by their methods.

Also:

OSLO (EJP)---One hundred famous Norwegians, led by the country’s national football coach, have signed a petition demanding a cultural and academic boycott of Israel, accusing its educational institutions of “playing a key role in the occupation” and equating it with apartheid.

Egil Drillo Olsen, coach for the national Norwegian football team, recently wrote in Aftenposten, the country’s second largest paper, that the call to boycott Israel was "in line with what 90 percent of the world’s population believes. There cannot be many other opinions."

The petition is the last item in a string of similar and high-profile initiatives to have taken place in Norway over the past two years. It was signed by coach Olsen and 99 other public figures from the arts and culture, who stated that a boycott is "necessary" not only to help Palestinians, but also to "support Israelis opposing the occupation."

Did you notice that both yankeeuxb and Tspam seem to be Parkinson striken ? Or that they are so foaming at the mouth at the idea of announcing what they think is bad news for Israel that they repeatedly send their stupid blog messages?

Jose ans Matt, many thanks but I am sure that you also noticed that I took Yankee to task for the BDS, noting that it wasn't exactly working and was pretty useless because it targeted the wrong people. I am glad you me another opportunity to point that out.

Tspam, you already do the same with your alter ego "Ibrahim al-Rais". See "Multiple Personality Disorder" in DSM-IV.

Glad to see that all are in agreement that the BDS is failing.
The best they can muster is a band that no one has ever heard of, (except a few people, family & friends of theirs in Nottingham).
And, Norway, that wonderful non-entity of a Country famed for "Quisling".

Jose, thanks for reminding me. Where is Avraham? He seems to have disappeared from the blog. I sincerely hope nothing bad has befallen him and that he has a peaceful, restful and fulfilling Shabbat.

As you well know, Avraham has been zapped while antisemites are permitted to remain.

Now, where's that billet doux you sent me?

Yvetta, I had no idea he had been barred, honestly. That is such a shame. I've no idea where the post is, but I will resend.

I don't really care about "Ibrahim al-Rais". As you know, Friday is the holy day of Muslims. Maybe he's praying in a mosque right now. He won't be there on shabbat as he wants to pass as a religious Jew. That is two days of peace with the pseudo-religious who seek to give a bad name to Zionism. Of course your non-religious personalities will remain.
