As usual one gets the sinking feeling everytime the Beeb does anything on Israel. Last nights programme left me pleasantly surprised. It was balanced and probably a fair reflection of what happened. Has the BBC at last got the message! only time will tell.

Ain't it amazing that the been is suddenly deemed to have broadcast a fair and balanced programme only when it gives one side? The "other side" feel the same way sometimes.

Alan is absolutely right, telegramsam. It was fair and balnaced - to both sides. Very even-handed.
See why - and how it differs from the usual BBC fare and Bowen - on

Of course it was balanced, yvetta. It was as balanced as a fiddler on the roof or Edmund Hilary atop everest. It was a virtuoso performance by Jane Corbin. Much like Glenn hoddle in his pomp or artur Rubinstein performing a Chopin nocturn.

It gave equal time to assessing the perspective from both angles - it didn't come down on one side or the other.
Faultless.

I agree Yvetta, both sides were given a fair hearing.

telegramsam - are you saying the BBC is biased? Tut tut.

Whose version of events would you trust then?

What do you think happened and what is the evidential basis for your conclusions.

What, Ray, the BBC isn't biased? I thought Trevor asserson and Just Journalism, as well as Honest Reporting spent all their time proving how biased it was. And now it's not? Hmm...
I don't trust anyone's version of events. Everyone's got an axe to grind when it comes to the israel/Palestine corn flake.

You obviously didn't see the very firm tongue in my cheek.

If you don't trust anyone then you will never believe anyone. But you must have an opinion, no? Surely you trust your own judgement?

And if you never trust or believe anyone debating Israel/Palestine it makes it very hard to debate or comment on this website, because you can't, logically, expect anyone to belive your opinions either.

telegramsam, let's get into specifics, rather than silly generalising.

Why don't you think it was balanced? Give examples.

It seems that "being balanced" means "giving only the other side's point of view", according to telegramsam.

To most others, it means "giving both accounts". Make your choice!
