Bare-faced British anti-semitism - you must watch this short video

On 1 December 2009, there was a pro-Israel rally outside the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) 'Christmas concert' at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church starting at 6pm.

In this short video, you will see a rather unpleasant man called John Sullivan who attended the PSC event, but was keen to share his racial hatred with the masses before he went into the Church, going on a tirade about the Jewish / Israeli zealots, amongst other horrendous statements. Watch the video now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fUKsDG9v2A

The "carol concert" featured Caryl Churchill, author of the antisemitic play Seven Jewish Children, which demonises Israel and suggests that Israeli parents teach their children to hate Arabs.

The leader of the Church, Vicar Simon Perry, disgracefully buys into the PSCs propaganda, supporting such events and endorsing the PSC. He supports a boycott of Israeli goods and fails to see anything antisemitic about Seven Jewish Children.

Those protesting against the event did so because the event was organised by the PSC, whose agenda goes far beyond working for the creation of a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel. The PSC supports the terrorist organisation Hamas whose Charter seeks the genocide of Jews and the destruction of Israel. The PSC was responsible for the appallingly biased TUC Congress statement on Israel which demonised that country.

Thank you for posting this 'interview.' As an English person and a Christian, may I apologise for this dreadful attitude of John Sullivan - I am ashamed of his words, embarassed by his subjectivity, and upset about the distortion of facts, history, and, above all, the image of Jewish people. Any person, but especially any Christian, who cannot be objective in the Arab-Israeli conflict and who doesn't know the horrors 'Christians' have comitted against the Jews for century after century, should not speak his mind, and certainly not in public. Jews have been exemplary in terms of assimilation, and calling for Jews (or any other religious group) to become Christian because of living in the UK is absurd - Mr Sullivan should say that to Muslims and see the response. Some of the things that were said reminded me on the stereotype accusations against Jews of the Middle Ages and I am deeply ashamed of all of that. Just this morning as I finished teaching on Jewish suffering at the hands of the 'Church,' one of my puplis was in tears and ashamed of all the horrors comitted against God's chosen people... there are some idiots (forgive my French) out there, but the Jewish people have many many friends among genuine Christians - we try to understand your struggle, seek to take responsibility for what illguided 'Christians' did and are, obviously still doing (!), and are with you in the struggle for truth, justice, and your Land. Shalom!

@Jonathan: Thank you for the link. I just read the words of Mr Sullivan again - what outrageous content, and terribly distorted opinions. 'Love thy neighbour' is not a Christian but a Jewish way of life (it became Christian, yet not towards the Jews - sadly so!). For Hillel Lev 19:18 was the very foundation of Judaism - rightly so (Yeshua said it is the most important commandment along with loving G-d). I am ashamed that Mr Sullivan calls himself Christian and educated but is ever so ignorant! Can the Jewish people once more forgive a 'Christian' for distortion and humiliation? If any people showed forgivenss throughout history, it is the Jewish people. Shalom

Gordon - Thank you.

In no way do I think that Sullivan is representative of most decent Christians. In fact four wonderful Christians came all the way from Wales to demonstrate with us, you can see them in the video. Thank you Mike Fryer and Christians For Zion:

Mike also came last year to demonstrate at the appalling 'carol' service with words doctored to vilify Israel, organised by Jews. He did not know we would be there and was fully prepared to be alone:

You found one antisemite. Just the one? From that you extrapolate about British antisemitism? And how do we know this geezer isn't a plant? Or just some drunk out on the tiles? C'mon guys, how many more passers-by made anti-Jewish comments?

So, Mr Hoffman, Bullies always resort to abuse when they are found out. This is obviously your way of accepting that this is either a set up or that the protesters managed to find just one antisemite.

@iainlrabbak: may I respond to some of your commets and make some more of my own: (1) even one anti-Semite is too many and must be exposed and confronted. (2) The very fact that such stuff is so outspoken and the way he generalises about all British public opinion, shows clearly that this is an opinion held by more than just one 'geezer.' (3) Mr Hoffman made clear that he understands - as all normal people do - that this does not represent the Christian view in general, so please do not accuse him like you do. (4) Supporting the Palestinian civilians is something we should all do, and many Jews are examples of that; but supporting terrorist groups who themselves misuse civilians for their unworthy cause must be confronted as a necessary prerequisite to peace. If Christians or anyone cannot make that difference, they are too biased and unfair and become guilty of supporting inhumane acts of violence. (5) We need to understand both sides of the argument, confront what is truly evil, but be fair to those who seek peace. Being simply one-sided will only harden an already tough conflict. (6) The defined aims of Hamas, PLO, Hizbollah, etc are simply unacceptable under any circumstances and must be rooted out - the very war Israel is fighting to bring about peace and prosperity to both Arabs and Jews. (7) Peace is more than the absence of war; as long as anti-Jewish ideology is driving politics, peace will remain an illusion. Reconciliation and mutual acceptance is the only way (e.g., South Africa under Mandela).
