Diane Abbott £131,735 Gerald Kaufman £125,649 Clare Short £139,210 And my MP, Harrow East, Tony McNulty £134,402 Still time for me to consider standing? |
12 February, 2010 - 18:32 Rate this: 0 points | Well, well, well. I didn't realise the heinous Mr Hain was on that list. I say "heinous" advisedly; he's shtum on the issue now, but he used to call for Israel to be replaced by a "Democratic Palestinian State". So if he stands for leadership of his party, I trust this will be recalled. Because I doubt he's changed his spots. |

12 February, 2010 - 22:19 Rate this: 0 points | You forgot Kaufman's Waterford Crystal grapefruit bowls at an exorbitant price. Apparently this Left Winger can't eat grapefruit out of anything else. |

13 February, 2010 - 14:24 Rate this: 0 points | I think it makes the point that the term 'anti-semite' in today's language is banded about to mean anyone who disagrees with Israel's foreign policy (whether they are Jew or Gentile) - the word is vary rarely used in it's proper context as meaning a 'racist against Jewish people'. Maybe (to use a political term) we need to get back to basics and only use the term in it's original and proper context, and learn to live with the fact that there are Jews and Gentiles that don't agree with some of Israel's policies, or even elements of the Jewish diaspora's culture that could be considered chauvinistic towards others. |
13 February, 2010 - 15:33 Rate this: 0 points | Jon, if Hain does make a bid for the leadership (and I wouldn't put it past him), his record re Israel will have to be publicised. |
13 February, 2010 - 18:38 Rate this: 0 points | John Gold - I have never heard someone being described as an anti-Semite just because they criticise Israeli policy. Misguided maybe but not an anti-Semite by any means. |
13 February, 2010 - 19:06 Rate this: 0 points | rich. If what Kaufman had said had been from a gentile - he would have been branded an 'anti-semite' (by the likes of J Hoffman, Yvetta etc), and probably still is by JH. As for somone "criticise Israeli policy. Misguided" - that implies that that they get everything right all the time, or above criticism? |

Don't worry about Kaufman for now. The electorate should finish him off on May 6th. He claimed for a £7,000 TV on expenses. He then put it down to having a self-diagnosed OCD i.e. he wanted to have that TV and once he had decided he wanted it he had to carry it through.
He's a dead politician walking (in a political sense only).
