Amnesty International

I read today that Amnesty International have called Israel's so called enquiry into the attack on the Gaza Aid Flotilla a 'whitewash'.

This is an extract from Amnesty's statement:

'Israeli inquiry into Gaza flotilla deaths no more than a “whitewash”

Amnesty International has condemned the findings of an Israeli inquiry into last year’s raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla as a “whitewash” which failed to account for the deaths of nine Turkish nationals.

In a report published on 23 January, the Turkel Commission concluded that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acted lawfully when they captured the Mavi Mamara on 31 May 2010, killing nine activists on board, and intercepted five other ships. Despite being nearly 300 pages long, the report crucially fails to explain how the activists died and what conclusions the Commission reached regarding the IDF’s specific actions in each case.

The Commission’s failure to account for the deaths reinforces the view that the Israeli authorities are unwilling or incapable of delivering accountability for abuses of international law committed by Israeli forces. It also highlights the need for follow-up to ensure that the sharply contrasting conclusions of the International Fact-Finding Mission appointed by the UN Human Rights Council, which were issued on 22 September 2010, but not even mentioned by the Commission, are addressed and that the rights of victims to an effective remedy are upheld'.

There seems to be a general consensus growing on this.

Amnesty has an unremitting Israel hate agenda: Perhaps you should declare that you work for Amnesty, "Suzanna"?

So what about the fact that David Trimble sat on the inquiry and endorsed its independence?

Another example of the horrific politicisation of Amnesty.

Truly terrifying.

If she does work for Amnesty Jonathan then it's doubly appalling that she comes onto the Jewish Chronicle blogs to express her contempt for Israel's Jews.

The entire globe seems to share Anesty#s view. The report was simply ignored. How can a Turkish report or an Israeli report be " independent " ?

An independent investigation of oneself is a psychological impossibilty.

Only in your demented imagination. It's "Amnesy International" in fact, simonsam. The one that forgets and forgive all 'Palestinian' war crimes.

The truth is something that does not fit in well here suzanna, hats off to you for braving the inevitable hatred no doubt will be heading your way, from the usual extemists & rejectionists.

Therefore when we declare you an antisemite, you would rather believe yourself or us, simonsam?

All this proves is that it doesn't matter what Israel does or doesn't do, the truth does not matter, people who hate Israel will never change their minds and will never listen to Israel's point of view. And that includes Amnesty International.

Anyone with a fair mind who watched the Panorama documentary about this would have seen what the situation was. The Turkel Commission (which was a transparent, public inquiry with international observers) was the most impartial we're going to get. Unfortunately it didn't say what the haters wanted it to say, so of course they're going to call it a whitewash.

Very sad, and I don't know how this will all end but I'm not very optimistic.

Certainly not the 'truth' Amnesy flavour. Remember to think in shades, Hater zair.

We know where the haters are, Hater zair. And "extemists" are those who support HAMAS te''o'ist, aren't they?

Are you having a laugh? He's part of the 'Friends of Israel Initiative.

Indeed Matt, and it looks like the Turkel commission was a waste of public money, if it was only to convince haters, those who will always guilt Israel for other's fault.
Fortunately, Israel doesn't do it for them, but for the sane part of the world.

David Trimble is a great man who led Ulster to peace and reconciliation after over a century of conflict. Perhaps Jew hater Zair would have been happier if a ne'er-do-well such as George Galloway had sat on the panel, whose only accomplishments have been radicalising a load of London Muslims, kissing Saddam's arse and doing cat impressions on Big Brother.

Pathetic.

You of all haters should know, Hater zair. We have seen a member of the Goldstone commission announcing the guilt of Israel before the inquiry. So you must know what you are talking about, regarding non-independence.
Therefore you should recognise even more easily that the Goldstone commission was a farce.

Unless of course you apply double standards. And double standards are a sure sign of antisemitism.

Thruth escapes the haters' wits, that is quite obvious. They have to project dark plots to explain all their failures. Can't be their fault, really!

Well, AI sure apply double standards, and sure are antisemites.

I have just phoned them, and asked the pathetic person who tried to justify their libellous accusation of 'whitewash' whether she'd seen the Marmara video. Of course, she hadn't.
I then told her that's exactly the reason why when AI come to me for consultancy services, I tell them to fuck off.

suzanna, Amnesty itself is highly partisan - so why are you surprised they take yet another opportunity to attack the Jewish state?

A few weeks ago, Amnesty International "hosted" a "tribunal" sitting in judgment on Israel. The panel included a medley of Israel haters - and not one person was there to mount a defence. To make such a sham even worse, the panel included a desecrater of Jewish graves, and someone who sprayed pro=Palestinian graffiti on the Warsaw Ghetto memorial.

Are you happy with that?

Suzanna

At the height of the Intifada when Palestinian barbarians were murdering Jews in cafes, hotels buses ,and shopping malls etc it barely registered a flicker of concern as far as Amnesty was concerned . The same holds true for most of the other supposedly apolitical NGOs who ply their duplicitous wares to a gullible world.

You may have little faith in the Turkel commission .I can assure you we have a lot less faith in the impartiality of AI and others like it.

Out of curiosity, I was outside the BBC on the Sunday after the Panorama programme - the camera doesn't lie!

But outside the BBC were about twenty people, kind of middle-aged, caucasian, in dufflecoats, sadly apparently myopic, certainly trouble-makers - the camera doesn't lie!
