Review: Pride And Glory

Jennifer Ehle, her head shaved and suffering from cancer is sadly wasted in the schematic role as Abbie the wife of policeman Ray Tierney (Edward Norton), a member of a family of New York cops.

They are embroiled in an investigation into the murder of four policemen that tears the family apart as it uncovers major corruption in the NYPD. Director Gavin O'Connor delivers a pacy, exciting but rather derivative police thriller. Violence is prevalent and tough, performances range from first rate (policeman John Voight as the paterfamilias, Norton adding depth to a recognisable character and Colin Farrell giving his all) to adequate. Pride and Glory is slick, satisfying but hardly memorable.
