SHONN TROPHY QUARTER-FINAL FIRST LEG
MACCABI MANCHESTER 3rd 2
LEEDS MACCABI 2nd 0

Max Foster’s brace ensured Maccabi Manchester 2nd are in pole position to reach the Shonn Trophy semi-finals.

Foster struck in either half for the hosts, who will now cross the Pennines with an important advantage for the return leg.

Maccabi Manchester 2nds boss Richard Hamburger told JC Sport: “It was a good win but this tie is far from over.

“If we are not on our game we could have a difficult second-leg. We have given ourselves a good chance to progress but the first goal will now be crucial.

“If they get it then it’s game on, but if we strike first it will leave them really chasing the game.

“Two set-plays was the difference here so we know it is far from a forgone conclusion.”
