Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has been taken to hospital after he was injured in a car crash on Friday afternoon.
Ben-Gvir's car flipped after witnesses said his vehicle ran a red light while the minister was visiting the scene of a terror stabbing attack in the central city of Ramle on Friday morning before the car crash.
Police said two vehicles were involved in the collision and three were taken to hospital, sustaining light injuries. There were no reports of fatalities.
"Minister Ben-Gvir feels good, is conscious, and will continue to receive medical treatment at Assaf HaRofeh Hospital," his office said.
Dramatic videos depicting the car wreckage have been widely shared on social media. Armed personnel can be seen guarding the vehicle.
Some witnesses claimed that Ben-Gvir's car ran a red light and collided with another vehicle legally crossing a green light. This has not been confirmed by Israeli officials and police say they are investigating the cause of the crash.
